Transfer photo FOLDERS from Mac to iPad.

I have about 82,000 photos organized into about 700 albums organized into 32 folders in the photos library on my Mac. How do I get these FOLDERS OF ALBUMS onto my iPad in the same organization that they are on my Mac?

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 14.5

iCloud.

iCloud Photos synchronizes all the devices connected to it with the same Apple ID. From one Mac to another or from Mac to iPad, or vice versa, all the Photos Libraries will be the same, including folder and sub-folder structure. There are some things a Mac can do that an iPad can't, like Smart Albums, but otherwise it's the same. Really, this is what those of us who use Photos with lots of pictures and several devices do. Works like a champ.

If you don't want to use iCloud to keep them synchronized, you can buy a month's worth of storage, $3 for 200 GB, get it all synchronized, and then turn off iCloud and stop the subscription. You can read about iCloud Photos here:

Set up and use iCloud Photos - Apple Support

In synchronizing, when you turn on iCloud, Photos will make a single Photos Library in iCloud Photos that has the pictures from your Mac and from your iPad. That will be copied to both. On your Mac you can set up multiple Libraries, but only one can be connected to iCloud. So like many of us, if you want, you can have one Library to share with your iPad and others to store archival pictures that you don't need to share.

I will say, sheepishly, that I haven't actually read the "Set up" link I referred to, so I don't know about navigating through all the touristy looking stuff. But if you want more advice about doing this, just let us know.
