iPad Pro 13 does not zoom out past 1 x

Your old iPad Pro had a rear dual-camera system - Wide-angle (1x) and Ultra-wide angle (0.5x).

The new 2024 iPad Pro (M4) models have dropped the Ultra-wide camera found in recent earlier models of iPad Pro - the new iPad Pro instead having a single 12MP rear-facing Wide-angle camera (1x). This camera can digitally zoom-in, but not out.

You're very welcome - although perhaps not the answer that you were hoping for.

Clearly you were not aware of the hardware differences between your old and new iPad - in particular the revision to the rear camera system ☹️

Perhaps a note for the future... but if purchased directly from Apple, you have a generous 14-day period within which you can unconditionally return an unwanted/undamaged device for exchange or full refund.

Unfortunately a lot of retailers charge that fee because they won’t be able to sell it as new anymore (that’s the excuse they use at least) and will have to sell it cheaper as open box/used. They usually disclose this fee in some way at the sell or in their posted return policies. Only time they don’t is if you are doing an exchange or refund for a defect issue I believe (at least that used to be Verizon’s policy)
