Siri not working properly connected to car bluetooth

Since iOS 17 siri hasn’t worked properly connected to car bluetooth. I used to be able to ask siri to make a phone call with no issues. Now, siri will make the call but i have to toggle the output setting on my car stereo before siri speaks out of the stereo. The same goes for asking siri to play music. Siri doesn’t seem to be able to perform this task. Have tried fiddling with multiple settings with no joy. Ipad seems to be able to do all of the above with no issues.
