iphone 15 pro screen wont turn off durring GSM call

Hey

I have noticed that after the last update 17.5.1 my 15 pro wont comply with the turn off/on screen button while GSM call active. It makes the sound of a closing screen while it remains fully active and responsive.

also, besides that, screen -at times- wont activate Face ID, but rather ask me to input the code, because “i have recently changed it”. Needless to say I did not change it.

is it because of hardware? Is it because of software? Anyone experiencing similar stuff?
