I have a 2023 16" MacBook Pro. I have inserted a usb thumbdrive, which does not appear in the Finder, however if I use the System Information utility and I look under Hardware -> USB it shows that it detects the device. I also have it set to allow all accessories once connected. What is happening? Why won't it appear in the Finder?

Old issue, new issue, what changed?
All connected external USB's and/or drives or just this one in particular.. ?
Check your Finder Settings>Sidebar
If in the Finder you still do not see it under Locations — move your mouse to the right and spin the caret open...
If no insight or resolve try a different USB and compare your results
