The operation can’t be completed because one or more required items can’t be found. (Error code -43)

I get the error message "The operation can’t be completed because one or more required items can’t be found.

(Error code -43)" when I try to move items to a different folder. Even trying to move an empty folder to trash triggers it. I've googled workarounds but haven't found anything that works. Can anyone help?

The error code -43 typically indicates an issue with file or folder permissions or the destination folder itself. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

Check Permissions:

Right-click on the folder you're trying to move items to and select "Get Info".

Look for the permissions section and make sure you have "Read & Write" access. You might need to adjust permissions if you don't have them.

Check Destination Folder:

Try moving the items to a different folder. This helps isolate if the issue is with the specific destination folder.

Verify the destination folder isn't full or corrupted. Try creating a new folder to test.

Restart Your Device:

A simple restart can sometimes clear temporary glitches that might be causing the error.

Disk Utility/Error Checking:

Run a disk utility scan (Mac) or on your drive. This can identify and fix potential disk errors causing the issue.
