Since iOS 17.5.1 update, Bluetooth no longer works and iPhone 11 Pro overheats. 😠

Following the latest iOS 17.5.1 update, my iPhone 11 Pro has:

  • started overheating, and
  • the Bluetooth won't connect to my car, Alexa Echo or other devices.

My phone gets really hot when Bluetooth is on as it's constantly scanning for devices to connect to.

To connect, I have tried pairing, forgetting, repairing, resetting phone and all devices etc but nothing works.

I did manage to connect to my old wee Juice SoundSquare speaker for all of 5 seconds but it just keeps crashing out.

My daughter's iPhone 14 meanwhile has no issues and continues to work ok across all devices.

My iPhone is in excellent condition. It has not been dropped or bashed nor has anything changed - accept for the iOS update. I felt pressured into buying more (2TB) Apple memory because of this and have just back up the phone.

Can any one suggest a fix as I can't afford a new phone due to cost of living crisis. 😭

Apple Support did run remote analytics but could find nothing wrong. Suggested I wipe the phone.

I’m having similar problems with my iPhone 15 Pro Max after updating to 17.5.1 yesterday. Bluetooth is no longer able to play audio using my car as output device.

The connection is made but no audio is transmitted. When using Apple Music it seems that it tries to switch audio device several times (pausing and playing), but stops completely after a few tries.

This looks like a regression impacting several users.

I have an iPhone 14 prom max and my phone has been extremely glitchy when connected to Bluetooth in my car. I had this same problem with a prior update. Once the next update came out it went away but now it’s started again with this new update. It’s definitely frustrating because I have a long drive to work and having my music cut in and out ever couple of minutes (or back to back) makes my drive feel even longer and frustrating. Hopefully they fix this is the next update.

I am also having Bluetooth connection issues, won’t connect to my Jeep Cherokee infotainment system and I have issues connection to other devices but not all. I have a 14 pro max. About a month ago my phone was damaged so Apple support had a new one shipped to me. (Up until this point I did not have any issues.) Since receiving this new iPhone 14 Pro Max, I have had issues with Bluetooth connections. I am so frustrated!!!!! I will be going back to the Apple Store to see if this is a device issue or software issue. I was told by one of the techs at the Apple Store that they have been receiving a lot of phones having various issues with the new updates and they have not been the same issues. Seems there is no rhyme or reason for the issues and there is no specific iPhone beging affected or not affected.

This 17.5.1 has caused all kinds of problems. How can a company like Apple release a product update this flawed? Cellular service no longer connects. New SIM card doesn’t fix. Bought new phone, now Bluetooth will not connect to any device. Been an Apple user for 30 years. Ready to jump ship. Elementary business teaches you to thoroughly test products before release. Sad….

It's not always the iOS update's fault!  Many things can cause phone problems.  If you tell people you think it's an iOS update, it might make it harder to fix or find a solution for the real issue.

Remember, the right question often leads to the solution! Please look in the right direction.

iOS updates aim to enhance user experience, boost security, and fix bugs rather than disrupt core features. The majority of the issues after updates might stem from underlying, unmentioned factors. Updates won't typically alter personal data but may refine settings or features. Backup before major updates for safety. Review Apple's update details and backup advice for a smooth process.

Kindly consider checking your settings and addressing any device issues before attributing the issue to external factors. This could be a pure coincidence that the iOS update affected the iPhone functions.

Before initiating a standard iOS update, it's advisable to create a backup. Have you completed this step? If yes, proceed with the restoration from the backup.

9th generation iPad user. I have three devices I regularly connect with blue tooth.

Powerpal energy meter,

Fitbit Charge 6

skokz headphones.

up to last night, all devices were visible but not connected.

Powerpal lost connectivity on Fifth June. Have been trying to reconnected I told blue tooth to forget the device. It forgot it completely and still hasn’t found it.

this morning did the same with Fitbit. For the same result.

so, having done all the shutting down of Bluetooth, wifi, cellular connections and powering down the device and turning it back on, I told Bluetooth to forget the headset.

same result. The wheel is spinning and it cannot see any devices at all to connect.

in the meantime, the Bluetooth analysis tool on my motog phone, righ next to the iPad can see eight devices within the vicinity.

interestingly, It can’t see the iPad.

I have an iPad Air 5 and after disconnecting Bluetooth earbuds, the headphone symbol will not disappear, yet, the device is no longer listed in the devices. Other times, the device will not disconnect when it should. Lastly, like others have reported, the device screen is forever seeking for new devices for some unknown reason.

Since iOS 17.5.1 update, Bluetooth no longer works and iPhone 11 Pro overheats. 😠
