After a recent company-wide upgrade from Office Outlook to Office 365, my primary AppleMail account is messed up. If I delete my previous 25+ year Apple Mail account, will I retain all my mail files, if I create a new account? Ventura 13.6.7, MBP 15-inch 2017. Mail 16.0 (3731.700.6.1.1)

It's not clear to me what the problem might be but if you have any email messages that you are fond of in that account, be sure to archive them first.

It's not clear to me what the problem might be but solving it might require deleting a Mail account and adding it again. The admonition to save those email messages appears in Apple's recommendations in If you can’t send or receive email on your Mac - Apple Support.

Be sure to read the Important note in Remove or temporarily turn off email accounts in Mail on Mac - Apple Support:

Important: If you’re unsure whether messages you want to keep are still on the mail server, move or copy them to a mailbox stored on your Mac (the mailbox appears in the On My Mac section in the Mail sidebar) before you remove the account in Mail.
