Synching between apple hardware
When I delete emails on my iPad they are not deleted on my laptop What am I doing wrong?

Who is your email provider ?
Does the email provider use the IMAP Protocol ?
Using IMAP Protocol would mean, whatever is reflected on the email Provider would be reflect back onto the iPad and Laptop
Example could be Apple iCloud Mail account
Sign in to iCloud on all your devices
Apps and features that use iCloud
Send and receive iCloud Mail on all your devices and keep Mail settings up to date
