If you are using IMAP connections to your e-mail accounts – as most people are – that will happen automatically. IMAP leaves the master copies of e-mail on your e-mail provider's servers, and each e-mail client will then try to synchronize against that.

There is another type of e-nail protocol – POP3 – where clients make local "master" copies of your mail and often delete the ones on the server immediately thereafter. This can lead to destructive competition among clients and thus is not what you'd want when reading your e-mail on more than one device/client.
