Why did my AirTags disappear from "Find My" app after changing my iCloud password?

After changing my iCloud password (because someone else tried to log in and asked for authorization), all AirTags disappeared from the "find my" app and were reported as stalkers following me. Today, my air pods, which are correctly connected to my phone and work well, are displayed by "find my" 1000 Miles away at a place I was traveling two days ago, even if they are sitting at my desk. Resetting all tags and reconnecting them fails as well. It's weird since it all started after my account password update and hacking attempt. Is iCloud still save?

Is there any known bug that can create such a behavior?
