Phone charging stops at 80%

After iOS update 17.5, charging of my iPhone 12 is stops due to overheating.

When I physically check my iPhone, it is not at all overheated, just warm as usual, but the charging is terminated after it is charged 80%.

Battery maximum capacity is 87%.

Windows, Windows 10

I can understand your concern, but your iPhone is actually NOT overheating. This is a new feature with Optimized Battery Charging, where the phone, if being fast charged will charge up to 80% and stop, and yes, display that notification, but it's NOT overheating, it's just letting you know the charge is being paused until the phone cools to finish the charge closer to the time you normally take the phone off the charger. I'm not sure why Apple is using this statement, but this is now normal and not cause for concern.
