iphone 13 stops charging at 80 percent

This is happening since I updated to ios 16.4.1. Battery and my phone gets too warm and heat up like anything. Is there any solution to this?

iPhone 13, iOS 16

Too warm means that the phone got so hot it exceeded its operating temperature range and shut down to cool off (and displayed a message saying this). If this didn’t happen it isn’t too warm. If you are fast charging it is normal for the phone to stop charging at 80%, because fast charging does cause the phone to get warm (2nd law of thermodynamics), so it will stop at 80% for an hour or so to cool down, then resume to complete the charge. If you don’t want this to happen don’t use a fast charger; use a 10 or 12 watt charger or a wireless Qi 7.5 watt charger.

Something else to do (if you haven’t already) is to force restart your phone. This kills all running apps, so the next time you use an app it will start from a new load:

  • Press and quickly release VOLUME UP

     then

  • Press and quickly release VOLUME DOWN

     then

  • Hold the SIDE button until an Apple logo appears (15-30 seconds), ignoring "slide to power off" if it appears

The operative word here is QUICKLY; and try it a couple of times, the timing is a little tricky.
