Adult Content Restrictions are unreasonably strict

I have had someone else create a screen time password and restrict adult content for my web browser on my mac. This feature is incredibly frustrating as I hoped to use it to stop some bad habits, but in turn I can't even access most of my necessary sites.

Is there any reason why there can't be a feature to simply add sites that you do not want to access, rather than having to restrict all "adult content" where it nixes sites that are not even close to being restricted content.

I know this community is for solving problems and such, but it seems that the content controls could be much more customizable. Who is apple to say what is and what is not sensitive or adult content to each individual person?

Apple makes a fairly generic filter system. And, it’s primarily designed for parents to restrict content for minors. So, yes, it’s likely that it won’t meet everyone’s needs.

I understand, but I want some restrictions in place. I had someone create a screen time password for me to block me from viewing stuff. However, it just blocks way too much. Also, they do not extend past Safari. I am able to download other browsers and view anything I please, even with screen time on. Doesn't seem very sound for me a 22 year old, or a pubescent male teenager.

What you’re trying to use—and again, for a purpose not intended—doesn’t effectively block kids¹, either.

This mechanism isn't intended for your planned usage, doesn’t work particularly reliably for the intended usage², and won’t work well here.

And that’s before we discuss relevant details of the content hosting involved, a discussion which likely won’t happen around here.

¹Jails fail at this.

²Those sufficiently inclined and motivated kids will routinely bypass this, and on an allowance-scale budget.

Exactly my point. Shouldn't there be a more customizable way to block and filter content through safari on mac? The system is too rudimentary.

What there should or shouldn’t be in some future version of iOS probably won’t help you now. But yo should definitely let Apple know what you’d like to see. As they don’t read here in this user-to-user forum, use the feedback link provided above.
