Battery drain after Sonoma 14.5 update

I have a M2 MacBook Air 13 that I bought back in April. After I update the software to the latest Sonoma 14.5, I have noticed increased battery consumption in shorter time. I mainly use Safari for browsing web and watch movies/otts. Has anyone else faced the same problem??? Any solutions to this???

I own two identical MacBooks Pro 16" M2, 16GB. One (A) has Monterey 12.5.1, and another one (B) has Sonoma 14.5.

Right after the software upgrade on computer B, simple browsing tasks started to kill my battery in about 3-4 hours. Meanwhile, I can spend the whole day working on computer A.

Comparing data in Activity Monitor on A and B shows that B consumes MUCH MORE energy on the same tasks. Writing this response in Firefox consumes '16.9' energy units while doing the same on computer B takes up to a '100' units. All small helpers and background utilities consume large amounts of energy as well.

Can't use my B computer with such a battery lifetime. Immediately noticeable after upgrade.

As previously mentioned, I'm pretty sure the issues are due to third-party apps not being compatible. A potential solution from Apple could be implementing version control for applications to ensure compatibility.

This approach could create a better experience for some users, but it might pose challenges for those needing urgent solutions that might not be compatible yet and might cause bugs. At the same time, it would enhance the user experience for those who simply want longer battery life and are those basic users. It’s a tough decision for a corporation to balance the needs of professionals and everyday users.

Have you at Apple had an thought about this yet?
