Macbook air 2011 HS not charging stuck at zero.

MacBook Air stuck at 0%

My MacBook Air is stuck at 0%. Looked at other post and it said to check under your battery service information. The problem is my battery says it’s normal but not charging. after little while stops charging and says battery not charging. wont charge again until i open back and unplug battery and replug and start over same process.

tried all known fixes.

almost positive-has to do with something in the osx. using high sierra for macbook air 2011 tried with lion same problem exists.

Here’s what is listed under battery info

charge info:

Charge remaining 0

fully charged no

charging no(though it is plugged in to the wall)

Health info:

cycle count 278

condition normal

amperage 0

voltage 7120

AC charger info:

after a month of trying to figure out why the charge stopped after years of never having a issue. miraculously started charging again like nothing happened.

I think might have had something to do with battery depletion too cloae to the threshold and system not able to calculate or read it properly.

things i tried:

smc/pram reset. never worked

osx reinstall didnt work

constant plug unplug adapter always stayed green

power plist delete in pref fixed no battery icon at one point

cleaned power port and adapter plug didnt work

checked in osx and windows always said battery not charging

how i think i got it to work

took cover off and unplugged battery, replugged and would get a temp charge still at end would revert back to green and say battery not charging, but fully charging time would start to decrease and stayed on 0%

cleaned some unusual thin coating using alcohol on charging board did some more smc reset. didnt work

went into windows again same didnt work but this time did a quick unplug adapter replug and voila! started working, recognized the battery (previously did not)

ultimately I think had to do with battery severe depletion needed to charge back above threshold but sytem could not read the battery. would charge in small amounts manually like. had to unplug battery replug everytime til above threshold. did some more smc resets to be safe and back to normal. 1 month of many many smc and pram resets. Thanks.
