I am installing a Canon MF8380Cdw and receive this error. It works fine on a Windows machine and I cannot find a solution. Any ideas? Other people have had the same problem.
Apple MacAir 2024.
Cannot scan because of the following:
- Scan type set on the scanner is incorrect
- Scanner is busy
- Error occurred in the scanner
- Scanner is in Sleep mode
Check the scanner status and try again.
Scanner driver will be terminated.

You need current Canon macOS Sonoma v14 device drivers for macOS Sonoma for this device, as it does not appear to be supported by Apple's built-in AirPrint. Once you install the April 2024 drivers, you will need to remove and re-add the printer in System Settings > Printers & Scanners panel. That will open an Add panel where you select the newly installed drivers before adding the device.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I deleted the printer and installed the April 2024 drivers before adding the printer (8300C) with Bonjour. I have done this again on your advice. I am still getting the same error with the scanner.
Only my Windows machine is shown as a destination.
The driver version is 10.11.11. The MacBook does not find the scanner. It seems I will need to scan using a USB and then transfer the files to the MacBook.
