Resurrecting old iPhone 4

i found an old iPhone 4 of mine. I would like to get it working again. Problem I lent this to a friend of mine she used it then got on someone else’s account I asked for it back she mailed it back. Ok, she can’t remember Apple ID password, I was able to remove all her other info through iTunes, but I can’t get past hello with out the id password. I know the phone is old school but it is small and I very seldom use an iPhone. Can I get this unlinked to her we are both elderly and she won’t be any help.

Thank you

iPad, iPadOS 16

The only way around this would be for you to come up with the original proof of purchase for the device. Apple won’t remove the activation lock without that documentation. If you can’t provide it, you may as well recycle it. It’s useless.

Even if you can do that, it’s pretty much useless. it’s no longer usable as a phone in much of the world, including the US, and you won’t be able to find any apps in the App Store at all that will still run on it.

I wouldn’t waste your time on it.
