I live in Mexico with a watch brought with me from the US. Before long I will want to replace the battery, so I contacted a couple of the few authorized sellers in MX. They told me that Apple doesn't repair watches in this country, not will it replace batteries. This is surprising because Apple sells watches in Mexico, including at many Costco locations. So what can I do aside from spending hundreds of return to the US?
I'm naive. Talking to Apple support US now, they tell me they never repair watches or replace their batteries, even in the US. When the battery sinks below practical usage the watch has finished its useful life. Supports says the useful battery life is 80% health. My watch is at 83% after 2 years.

The warranty on the product is for the country the product was intended for. If you purchased an Apple product in the US from Apple or an Apple Authorized Retailer, the warranty is good in the US. If you purchase an Apple product in Mexico from Apple or an Apple authorized Retailer, the warranty is good in Mexico.
There is nothing unique to this. If I purchase a Nikon, Canon, Sony, Pentax, Fuji, etc. in the US the warranty is honored in the US. If the camera breaks in Europe (for example) I’m presented with three options. I can get it repaired in the country I’m in a pay for the repair, return the product to the country where I purchased or return to the country where the manufacturer is headquartered (US). This type of warrant is standard in the electronics industry and I’ve been involved in selling electronics on and off since 1979. Nothing has changed. Return the device to country of purchase to receive warranty repair.
I didn't say a word about warranty, I said repair. (But Apple's warranty is international, and the company has replaced a US-purchased iPhone for me in Mexico.) The Watch is no longer covered by any warranty, but that doesn't prevent it from needing a new battery.
Sorry, your reference to Costco etc. was irrelevant. Return device to an Apple Authorized repair facility in your region. If you’re in the US please call 1-800-MY-APPLE or outside the US, consult the support article below.

OK, I understand. That’s the place to start in the U.S. (where I am). Apparently its behavior in Mexico simply confirms your assertion about the lack of battery and repair service in Mexico.

That has no relevance to my question. My watch is no longer covered by warranty. My original post didn't mention warranty.
