My email Inbox no longer shows the read emails

My Inbox on my MacBook Air keeps eliminating the read emails and only shows the unread emails. I am not changing settings it has done it on its own. I can see the emails in All Emails but that is not useful. How do I get them back to the Inbox?

Finally found the answer myself.

In the Apple mail app / Under VIEW tab / Under FILTER/ Do not check anything and all the emails appear.

Now I never changed this to Filter / Include: Unread mails but it sure changed itself this morning.

What a waste of time for such an easy fix. Why it self changed itself is beyond my skill set.
