I can not fix FCP blurry photo issue

I have tried importing a photo, I have tried dragging and dropping the photo, I have tried changing the playback setting to better quality, I have tried exporting the video in hopes that the end result is clear, I have changing the photo's format but each time the image quality is beyond unacceptable. As soon as I insert the photo into FCP it becomes blurry. I have attached two photos to show the difference in qualities. One picture is before FCP and one is after FCP. Please if someone can help I will really appreciate it.

Make sure the imported photo resolution matches the project resolution (1920x1080, for example) or maybe is some 2x, 4x etc integer of it. Otherwise it must be resampled.

Is the picture blurred when it is static in the timeline or when it is being played back?

The latter is normal and once rendered or exported it will look sharp.

However, as Matti says, if you are putting a 4,000 pixel wide picture into a 1080p timeline there will be a loss of quality as you will be losing lots of information.
