My iPhone 13 Pro is listed in my iMac 24" M1, 2021 bluetooth list, but the connection does not work. iMac is running macOS 12.7.5. I click to connect, it show connected then not connected and says it is not supported.

If you are attempting to use Handoff/Continuity or AirDrop, that does involve Bluetooth but the devices are NOT paired; Bluetooth just needs to be on and the devices in range of each other. What are you trying to accomplish..?
You can not use Bluetooth as a usable interface between the Mac and iPhone.
If you are not using iCloud to sync the devices...?
Then you can use a wired USB connection for backup and some transfer functions.

Thanks. I'm trying to work around the pathetic mobile signal where I live. With the hint about syncing, I got the two of them synced (had neglected that) and have been able to use wifi to phone my landline with the iPhone and the reverse also, and to get my voicemail on the other mobile (which is the one I use for SMS messages and ordinary calls).
Then the real problem, which is attempting to work around the bad mobile signal to get SMS messages to and from that other phone. May need an app or something.
Oh, this is Vodafone in Ireland - the other networks seem to be just as bad here where I live. (Beautiful but in the hills!)
Thanks for that background. I'm able to phone now with wifi from the iPhone, and won't worry about the pairing. Need to figure out how to send SMS using the internet wifi, as the Vodafone service here for regular mobile use is pathetic. Will work on that next.
