Regarding blocking senders, here are Apple's instructions -> Block or unblock senders in Mail on Mac

But in my experience it is best to block (blacklist) senders on the server, not in the client. What mail system(s) are you using? With Outlook, for example, you could log into the webmail interface and set up blocking there, on the server; the emails from blocked senders would be blocked before they could even get to your Mac.

BTW, there is no iOS 17.5 on a Macbook, not an iOS anything. Macs have macOS and the most recent version is Sonoma 14.5
