Is my AppleCare+ valid ?

i recently purchased a iPhone 15 pro max from a 3rd party company and not from apple directly.

When the device arrived I found it had never been activated and was brand new unused without a box.

I subscribed to AppleCare+ but i am worried it will be invalid in the event of a claim as the device wasn’t purchased directly off apple.

Will it still be valid ?

iPhone 15 Pro Max, iOS 17

"Brand New" without a box? That's a real concern.

Enter the serial number of the phone and the code that you see.

Is the phone covered with AppleCare+? If yes, I would be surprised, but I suppose it is possible.

What country are you in? Apple Retail and Apple online (Apple Care) have different rules and policies. Not drastically, just different out of necessity because of the personal interaction you have in a store. Apple can see a lot about a device with just the serial number.

I’m a former Apple Store manager and never had to request a receipt for a device for a warranty repair. But we would definitely need a legible and unaltered serial number on the device. Generally the serial number appears in several places, not just the exterior of the device. I’ve seen devices with one serial number on the outside and different one on the inside. Apple methods of detecting potential fraud are pretty extensive. But if the serial number shows good, you should be good on your warranty. However, remember there are still terms and conditions of the warranty itself that must be followed too.

Congratulations on your new Apple iPhone and enjoy the experience. 😀

If you bring the device into an Apple Retail store for service under Apple Care, the Genius will run the serial number and determine the validity of the warranty and any additional Apple Care+ the device may qualify for. A copy of a receipt is not necessarily required to obtain service. You can basically see the similar information by checking your coverage using the link in Bob Timmons post above. What does the link show when you check your serial number?
