APPLE SUPPORT CALL-BACK SCAM?

Lately whenever I troubles solve an issue using the Apple support app and arrange a call back. I eventually receive a call from the same local Austin Texas number: 512-526-5284. I've seen on Reddit that this is associated with people pretending to be AppleCare or other scams yet I am using the actual Apple support app to arrange these call back so it seems legitimate. Also, when I call the actual number for AppleCare directly, is it normal to be asked to verify my identity confirming on one of my devices the message that is sent out to me?

I have never needed to call Apple about anything but some kind of confirmation linking you to the device would make sense. Plus if you are calling Apple and then getting a call back from somebody saying they are Apple would also make sense. Either that or a huge coincidence you getting a scammer call immediately after asking Apple to call you.

As stated earlier, area code 512 is Austin, TX, and Apple has a very large campus there.
