Facetime glitch or hacked?

Before I start, let me tell you that I downloaded Steam and Epic Games and after sometime I noticed my mac running rather slow. and then when I was on FaceTime with a friend of mine, while I could see their video and mine too on the FaceTime but they could not see my video. Instead, they saw first an error message on the area where the video was supposed to be and next there was no error message but instead something wierd which eerily looks like someone else. Mind it, that is not me as I was in a bright light area but the video they saw was dark. I was wondering whether I was hacked.
