Graphics Switching pmset commands not working after Monterey 12.7.5
I've just upgraded from Big Sur to Monterey (12.7.5) and I am no longer able to use the sudo pmset commands for disabling/forcing integrated graphics. This has been a godsend feature to keep my fan quiet while recording live audio in the same room.
I've been using the commands from Nathan Snelgrove's blog, none of which are working anymore:
# Always use the integrated graphics card
sudo pmset -a gpuswitch 0
# Always use the discrete graphics card
sudo pmset -a gpuswitch 1
# Automatically switch between discrete and integrated graphics card (this is your laptop's default setting)
sudo pmset -a gpuswitch 2
I've checked the .plist (com.apple.powermanagement) and it's updating fine. So where's the disconnect, why isn't my machine getting the message?
I'm on a 2019 intel MBP with Radeon Pro Vega 20 4gb discrete graphics. (I can barely run the graphics card because it heats my machine so hot, blares the fans, and frankly slows the whole thing down).
Thanks!
