Apps have no access to camera and photos after iOS 18 Update

Here's a fix that worked for me:

Settings>Screen Time>Content and Privacy Restrictions>(Toggle this Option ON>Allowed Apps and Features>Toggle Camera ON

After those steps the Camera Option appeared in the App permissions

Restarted my iPhone 12, and the issue is gone, the apps seem to have the same access to microphone, photos, etc. , as they did pre-update. Can’t say I’m entirely happy with this, as I would never imagine I’d have to restart my iPhone to restore the access. It’s strange Apple released the update that broke something that had been working fine. Total absence of communication from their end is also very disappointing.

I had the same problem for few days! But I powered my iPhone off and back on and then it was fixed!!

Yup, this worked for me! just a hard power down, then when it powered up it all worked!

I had the same problem as my phone auto updated and I never restarted it. I restarted it and then the camera worked on the normal apps as before.

Hello! Here are the steps:

1. Go to Settings-->>Privacy-->>Camera and turn the settings to ON for each app that you would like to have access to it.
2. Go to Settings-->>Privacy-->>Photos and make sure that those apps have the Read & Write permissions.

Hi! The issue is that when I click Camera/Photos, there is NO options whatsoever. For Camera, the only option is to click "App Clips" and for Photos, there is no option at all. This has only started to occur once I updated my new phone, and none of the possible solutions are even possible for me to do.

I’m using iPhone 15 and experiencing the same problem upgrading to iOS 18. To add more context, I see this mainly When I install a new app which needs camera access. Solution mentioned below won’t work as I dnt see that new app in privacy & settings. Please fix it ASAP. Meanwhile Is there any way if i can revert this update? Its so frustrating…

Same for me, it started when I updated from 17.6.1 to 17.6.2 and then I updated to 17.7 and finally 18. The last 3 updates havent fixed the issue and Im limited in using my iPhone now. Please patch this as soon as possible.

I just got a 16 Pro and it will not allow apps to access the camera even though they have permission. I’ve needed photo ID for two companies and have to use my wife’s older phone. Hers works perfectly.

same problem, brand new phone trying to restore all my apps and accounts - when using an app it asks for permission to use camera and microphone and then just... doesn't work, black screen, no image. Can't take picture of ID to verify so I'm screwed.

Hi, What do I do if the app that needs permission isn’t listed? Under Settings— Privacy- Camera there are only 5 apps listed and my dashcam app isn’t there. I’ve only had this issue since the new update. Is there a way to add another app to that list so I can turn permissions on?
