Phone not up to date

my phone doesnt give me the option to update to 16.0. it says Im up to date at 15.8.2.

This message would indicate that you have an an iPhone 6s, an iPhone 6s Plus an iPhone 7, or an iPhone 7 Plus.

None of these models can update to iOS 16. That's why you see the message that you are up to date.

You need an iPhone 8 or higher model if you want to run iOS 16.

Hello! This could be because your iPhone is out of software updates. If you have an iPhone 7, 7 Plus, and all generations below you will not be able to update to iOS 16.

If your device is already running iOS 15.8.2, it is not compatible with higher versions of iOS.

Your phone is probably right.
