Why do some photos lack a delete icon and only show geographical information?

Did you transfer these pictures to your phone from a computer using a cable? Pictures transferred with a cable can be shown in the Photos app, but they not actually a part of the Photos Library-- they still sort-of belong to the computer, so they must be handled by the computer, and they can't be deleted by Photos. You will have to re-connect the computer to deal with these pictures.
