While using the Apple DVI to ADC adapter, what is Studio Display powered by?

hi, so I have a MacBook Air and am planning to get a Studio Display M7649. I know i need to have an apple DVI to ADC adapter (A1006) in order to connect these. I'm wondering when I'm using the apple DVI to ADC adapter. is the Studio Display powered by my MacBook air or the adapter? thank you!

The display has its own AC power cord. It does not get power from the computer or adapter.
