17.5.1 - The most issues experienced with any iOS upgrade - and no answers/fixes found
The 17.5.1 upgrade seems to be the worst I've experienced in my iOS history. Here are some of the problems I'm experiencing which there do not seem to be solutions for until I wait and hope that the next update fixes them.
Hardware:
iPhone 15 Pro Max
Apple Watch Series 7
iMessage - It just doesn't work.
- crashes all the time
- takes forever to send messages (iMessage enabled) and sometimes fails to send entirely.
- on startup after soft phone reset, takes about 15 seconds for the app to respond.
- longer iMessage relay to my other Mac devices ... i.e. I'll get the message on the phone (and Apple Watch doesn't alert me ... see below), and then it will take ~ 2 minutes for the message to appear on my other Mac devices.
Battery Life - iPhone:
- Battery fully depleted in about a day.
- With last iOS my iPhone lasted at least 2 days before I had to charge
- My settings after upgrade remained the same.
- After wireless charging, 50/50 chance that network functions will not work until after a soft reset. i.e. Shows network connectivity but there actually isn't any. This applies to ANY network connectivity 5GUW/5G/LTE through Verizon and WiFi.
Notifications / Apple Watch (with WatchOS 10.5)
- Sometimes uses the watch to notify / most times not.
- Bluetooth connection to watch intermittent even after restarting watch
- Phone calls on watch don't answer half the time
- Hand off to iPhone problems where watch will still have the connection and and the iPhone is in a "stuck state".
Car Play:
- When playing Apply Music subscription ... sometimes the songs will mysteriously "play backwards at high speed" until it reaches the beginning.
- This renders the Car Play interface inoperative for music. Doesn't show the music progress bar.
- Siri function not responding to play song requests until after phone soft reset.
