iPhone Backup Restore

I had downloaded the new version on my iPhone a week ago. I thought I would test it out for a week and then restore it back using a backup I made on iOS 17 (before I updated it to the new update).

The thing is, I was going to back it up today using my Mac, but before I clicked on "Restore Backup", I made a new backup with current version thinking it'll create 2 different backups (one with 17 and one with the new one); so I could revert it back to the new version with all my current files (incase I forgot to backup/save a file), since it had an option for "Manage Backups".

When I created my new backup, with the current version, I have no clue why, but my iOS 17 backup is now automatically deleted. I did not have my Time Machine on as I did not have a backup disk.

It would be great if someone could help me figure out how to get my previous backup back.

The old backup was overwritten unless you used a Mac or PC to back up....before....you installed the new software......and.....you also went through the process to "Archive" the backup to store it as a separate file on your Mac before you installed the "new" software.

Then, you would have a backup copy of the phone using the "old" software and a separate backup copy of the phone using the "new" software.

It's too late now, but there are very good reasons why Apple strongly recommends that you only install "new" software on a separate phone.......not the one that you use everyday.

Having said all this, if the moderators detect that we are discussing "new" software here, the post will be removed.
