Well, you can’t “accidentally” get iOS 18, because it is currently a closed beta only available to registered developers and invited “appleseed” beta testers. But here is the guidance for removing it→Apple Beta — Restore Shipping Software

Note that you will have to restore your iPhone to factory settings, then restore a backup made before the beta was installed.

i am also trying the same thing I updated my iPad from 17 to 18. And I have the same problems. Did you get a solution for it? Because I can’t seem to fix it.

Are you specifically talking about a beta version of OS 18? You will not be able to downgrade from OS 18 to OS 17, but if you are using a beta version of OS 18, you can restore to the latest shipping release of OS 18.

To restore from a beta version of OS 18 to the release version of OS 18, then you will need to do that with a computer and follow the steps here:

Betas are best kept away from any devices and from any apps you need to work, and to work reliably, and best kept away from any local and iCloud data you need available and uncorrupted. Beta test only on non-production devices, and only with a spare Apple ID.

To the subject of this thread, there is no downgrade. Not one that will preserve your data. Betas are one-way.

The procedure to revert is what amounts to a factory reset with no restore of a backup, or a factory reset with a restore of a backup created prior to the beta.

And you may need to do that reset at the end of the beta regardless, if something has gotten corrupted during the beta.

The contents of the data stored in iCloud and associated with the Apple ID may or may not downgrade.

unfortunately, downgrade option is not working at present. I tried and it throws error after extracting the ipsw file.

That may be because you're using an unsupported method of downgrading.

Right now you have to upload the full backup to icloud or use existing backup you have done while running iOS 17 after full iOS restore.

That is and always has been the only supported way to roll back from a beta upgrade.

yeah I did all of that. putting it in recovery mode and what not, it just restores it to the same even though I chose a backup before the update smh

Yeah, iOS updates are generally one-way.

You can exit an iOS 18 beta, but — depending on which beta — you'll get iOS 18.1 and not iOS 17.whatever, or will get iOS 18.next when that arrives.

And iCloud and macOS and PC backups all only keep multiple backups around by specific request. Otherwise, nightly backups get a copy of the current data.

My iPhone was recently left at a family member’s house and before I got it back they had updated my iPhone to the iOS 18 beta version. And I absolutely hate it. I’ve been having problems with battery where it will completely shut off and not turn back on for hours. So now I’m trying to downgrade to iOS 17 but I don’t know how. Thank you in advance.

Also, put a passcode on your phone. Do not give it to these family members are they are obviously not to be trusted with your possessions.
