Apple Watch bottom cracked affects automatic unlocking; best practices?
Hi, a couple of months ago my Apple Watch bottom cracked. I don't recall it dropping, but regardless, it cracked:
Since then, little bits of glass started to fall out, exposing a bit of the interior. To prevent any major loss and further damage to the internal components, I added a piece of duct tape:
I'm still able to charge the watch with the tape on. However, clearly things like the Oxygen Test don't work. Also, my Wrist Detection has always been on, but my watch stopped automatically unlocking I believe around the time that I put the duct tape on. This gets annoying, because now I have to keep entering my passcode or else it locks within 10 seconds, and I don't get notifications. It makes everything really inconvenient.
Are there any fixes you all recommend to improve my experience? Or is there any way I can potentially repair this for low cost / trade in, without having to deal with Apple's recommendation of buying a new watch or paying a lot for repair?
Appreciate the help.
