Siri doesn't activate by voice on iMac

Works fine if I manually click on Siri app, either through finder or info bar. But doesn't activate when I just say Hey Siri. Works fine on my iPad and iPhone. Just as an FYI, checked and rechecked the "Hey Siri" button under preferences, never goes into setup mode after clicking on. Internet connection is fine, microphone is fine(Plenty of sound coming through), OS is Sonoma 14.4.1, rebooted multiple times. At a loss as to what to do at this point. Would just click on Siri app and use from there, but it only listens one time until I close the info notice that comes up then I have to click on app again. Needless to say, that's not going to work.

It appears that the issue you're experiencing with Siri on macOS Sonoma 14.4.1 is not unique and has been reported by other users as well. Here are some steps and suggestions that might help resolve the problem:

1. **Safe Boot**: Some users have reported that performing a Safe Boot has resolved issues with Siri. To do this, restart your Mac and hold down the Shift key until you see the login window. After logging in, restart your Mac normally and check if Siri works[1].

2. **Reconfigure Siri Settings**: Try turning off "Hey Siri" in System Preferences, then turn it back on. This might prompt the setup process again, which could resolve any configuration issues[2].

3. **Check for Updates**: Ensure that your macOS is up to date. Sometimes, Apple releases patches that fix bugs in the system. You can check for updates by going to System Preferences > Software Update[3][4].

4. **Microphone Settings**: Double-check that the correct microphone is selected for Siri. Go to System Preferences > Sound > Input and ensure the correct microphone is selected and working properly[2].

5. **Reset SMC and NVRAM**: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) and Non-Volatile Random-Access Memory (NVRAM) can sometimes resolve hardware-related issues. Instructions for resetting these can be found on Apple's support website.

6. **Feedback to Apple**: If the issue persists, consider providing feedback to Apple. This can help them identify and fix the problem in future updates[2].

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it might be worth waiting for a future update from Apple that addresses this specific problem, as it seems to be a known issue with macOS Sonoma[1][2].
