[REPOST] Persistent horizontal lines appear on iMac screen

For some reason, I noticed the original thread below is closed. The last comment on it was June 23rd or the last day.

We would like to request Apple to let us submit our concerns.

Please don't close the thread because it is a valid cause for it.

I have an uncommon suggestion for getting our Imac's fixed.

I like to suggest we keep apple in good consciousness and release any judgment towards them, and then each individually request a re-evaluation of the thread below and requeset to speak to a senior representative.

Because this clearly needs to be addressed and there are many cases of the same issue.

I am reaching out to share an ongoing issue I, along with several other users, have been experiencing with our iMac 24-inch models, and to seek a collective resolution.

Problem Description:

  • Persistent horizontal lines appear on the screen, which significantly hampers the usability and visual appeal of the device.
  • This problem arises without any physical damage, and despite the stationary nature of the device.

Steps Taken:

  • Connected to an external display: The external display works fine, indicating the issue is with the iMac's internal display.
  • Reinstalled the OS: The problem persisted post reinstallation.
  • Avoided operating the iMac for a week: No change in the situation.

Concerns:

  • The cost of screen replacement is high, and there's no assurance that it will resolve the issue permanently.
  • The quality concern is alarming especially for a brand that positions itself as a premium segment player.
  • The support received thus far has been unsatisfactory, with no definitive solutions provided apart from a costly screen replacement suggestion.

You are not addressing Apple on these forums, Apple is simply the forum host and does not read or participate in these forums. If you want to contact Apple directly you have many methods, the first is to take your computer to your local Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider to be tested. If you are not aware of one in you vicinity please click Apple Repair and Repair Status Check - Official Apple Support to begin finding one.

You can also call AppleCare and they might be able to help you diagnose the issue and if they cannot fix the problem they can help get an appointment at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider. If you don't know that phone number please click Contact Apple for support and service - Apple Support to locate the number in your country.

Finally, if you have feedback for Apple you can submit it at www.apple.com/feedback however you will not get any return communication. This is used primarily to request new features.

Also, when posting on these forums, it is helpful if you let us know what:

  • Model year iMac you own
  • Display size
  • The version of Mac OS is installed.

As iMacs have been in production over 25 years and in scores of versions of Mac OS by not providing this information there is very little we can do to help you.
