Can the MacBook 2019 Logic board be a OEM board or a genuine board ?

Recently i had problems with my MacBook 16 2019 i7.....

That resulted in a logicboard replacement...

I went to a store that has certified technicians ... And i asked if they could make the replacement .. they told that they had to contact an Apple reseller in order to buy the new logicboard...


My question is... Can the MacBook 2019 logicboard be a OEM board ir a genuine board .. ? ...


How can i detect if the logicboard is genuíne new... Or if is refurbished.. ? Or even OEM logicboard .


Doesn t the T2 chip provides the necessary security to not copy this Kind Of logicboard...????


They told me that the board is new.. Apple original.. but bought from a reseller ... So..

How can i take the proper actions to see if the logicboard that they are going to substitute on my computer is a new and genuine Apple logicboard..????

FYI, most Apple Logic Boards are refurbished parts. About the only time you may receive a new Logic Board is if it is replaced shortly after the model was first introduced.


Personally I would not spend any money on repairs for any 2016-2020 Intel Mac for multiple reasons. The 16" MBPro 2019 model especially has an extremely high rate of Logic Board failures. From both personal experience supporting my organization's Macs and from posts on this forum for the past couple of years. In fact, there have been a number of users posting that the recent replacement Logic Boards had to be replaced again....sometimes before the user even has a chance to finish restoring their system from a backup after the repairs. The money spent on repairs is much better spent towards a new laptop.


Edit: Here is one example of a user that had the replacement MLB fail immediately after the repair and had trouble getting replaced again (another thread had a user report the 2nd replacement MLB failed as well and Apple or the AASP wasn't wanting to replace it again):

The problem that i had in my macbook was the failure of the t2 chip ...

i sent the computer to the shop.. the are not in the " apple trusted repair centers." but they told me that the board had to be new in order to be able to have the garanty and the icloud and the rest of the software...

in total i payed 900$.. for the replacement with 3 years garanty ( garanty law here in my country ) ..

the strange thing.. is that i have the 3 years garanty from them... but i cant have the 1 year garanty from apple...


I tested everything.. seems to be alright ...everything is working.. ... the only thing that failed.. was the lid sensor .. that is not working.. i open the lid and doesnt turn on automaticlly the computer...

They told me that they would replace the sensor ....

The Lid Angle Sensor is paired with the Logic Board.


The Touch ID is also paired with a Logic Board for fingerprint recognition. Unless the tech also replaced the TouchID which was previously paired to the replacement Logic Board by Apple, you won't have any fingerprint recognition either.


Very hard to say whether not having the other parts paired with the Logic Board would somehow affect some services such as video streaming services, or Apple wallet, etc. Just something to keep in mind.
