Before I moved over to my Apple Ultra watch, I used Fitbit. Fitbit would normally count to flight of stairs at 16 steps give or take. I would normally do 30 flights of I’m lucky if I get credit. Today I’m lucky if I get credit for two flights of stairs even though I know I do 30. I don’t understand the watch and how it counts.

If you also carry your iPhone with you, does the iPhone count the stairs differently?
Are you taking breaks between climbing floors?
Location Services, Motion & Fitness -> Fitness Tracking and Health are enabled in the settings for Privacy?

On the iPhone, open the Fitness App, tap on the daily Activity Rings, then scroll down the next page, beneath your Stand statistics you will find the number of Flights of Stairs.
In the Health App on the iPhone check the "Browse" section.
I don’t believe it counted any differently at least I don’t notice that it does. I believe I take my phone with me most times. What a bad habit can’t seem to live without your phone. I don’t take breaks between, but even if I did if I walked up three flights of stairs at 16 foot steps each I should get credit for three flights of stairs. Sometimes I get none.
I just tested this with my Ultra 2 and my iPhone 12mini.
I counted 16 steps, which relates to 1 flight of stairs, and both devices added one flight of stairs to the already counted number in the Fitness App and the Health App.
Well, there’s my reason to upgrade to the ultra two. Not sure my wife will agree with that but what she doesn’t know won’t hurt me.

However, I’ve been testing with my ultra one and it seems to be counting. My watch is showing six flights. Don’t know where to check my phone yet, but I’ll figure it out.
