Apple has charged me 9,99 euros for a service that I nor my family members subscribed. This happened a few times in 2023.
When this happens, does it list an active Apple TV+ subscription in your subscriptions overview? Does the charge match with listed active subscriptions?
Apple refunded me only twice. No reason was given.
- Refunds have a cut-off in how long ago the charge was, as refundable money is passed on to different accounts, I think monthly, with a minimum wait period. If something is amiss, then don’t wait too long.
- Multiple refund requests for the same reason point to a bigger issue that needs to be addressed. Someone can apparently add this without your consent.
- Bogus charges made to look like Apple’s, won’t be refunded by Apple. The charge description would then be (slightly) different from how legitimate charges are stated. If that happened, then contact your financial institution, to undo or reverse and block fraudulent charges.
- Charges to your payment method, but not through your Apple ID, could be unauthorized, and therefore fraud. If that happened, then contact your financial institution for misuse of that payment method, as Apple can’t help with that.
- Verify Family Sharing charges from the Purchase Sharing option, if you have that, by using the appropriate checkbox in the purchase history of the Family Sharing organizer.
This time, in case of no refund, I will have to delete my payment methods. I am aware this will cause my extra iCloud capacity ( 200 Gb ) to be lost.
Cutting off all payment methods could make you a debtor to Apple, which could result in revoking and suspension of services, possibly including your Apple ID. In general, not a good idea.
I don’t believe that listed and valid subscriptions start without the user knowing. It would be logged on which named device this was authorized (e.g. “Susan’s iPad” or “Johnny’s iPhone”) although you may need assistance from the staff in case of subscriptions (‘buy’ products list it in the confirmation email).
