Trouble adding Gmail to Mac Mail

Running High Sierra on i7 iMac. I had previously added my Gmail mail account through 'internet accounts' and was successful. Had to change my Gmail password and Mac Mail asked me for my new password. Entered the password and received notice that either account or password wasn't recognized. Deleted my Gmail account and tried to add it through 'internet accounts' as I did before. No luck. I've tried changing networks, restarting the computer, waiting a couple of days. Nothing has worked. Anybody have a suggestion?
