Why do my AirPods disconnect right after I connect them?

I just brought a pair of AirPods from someone else and when I wear them they are making the disconnect sound every other second pretty much and won’t automatically connect to my phone. I’ve tried to reset them but each time I do they come back as his AirPods

If they come back as his AirPods he hasn't deleted the AirPods from his phone properly I am afraid


He must follow these steps to remove the AirPods from his Apple ID


Remove AirPods from your Apple ID on iPhone or iPad

  1. Open the Find My app.
  2. Select the Devices tab, tap your AirPods, then swipe up.
  3. Tap Remove This Device, then tap Remove to confirm.


Remove AirPods from your Apple ID on Mac

  1. Open the Find My app
  2. Select the Devices tab, then select your AirPods.
  3. On the map, click the More Info button.
  4. Click Remove This Device.
