Im trying to connect my MacBook Air (13-inch, 2017) MacOS Monterey to a bluetooth device in order to listen to music. the device's name comes up in the list but when I click on it nothing happens, the searching starts and nothing else.
does anybody knows why?

To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...
Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.

Is the device less than 10 meters/30 feet away?
Is there anything else Bluetooth within range that could potentially pair in its place? Might want to turn off all Bluetooth devices in range except that which you want to pair together.
absolutely close, a meter away. there 4 different devices come up simultaneously and I choose the one I need to connect and it seems like its start to connect but then nothing happens...turn off all the others? I tried but than it removes them completely from the list...
