Why would my “show recently deleted” option be showing up if there are no deleted texts?

Why would my “show recently deleted” option be showing up if there are no deleted texts? Every time I click to show my recently deleted, it opens to a blank page. The recover and delete options are showing at the bottom, but I’m unable to click on them if that makes sense? But there are no deleted texts showing up. I thought the option to see your recently deleted messages only appears when you have deleted messages?? Help!

It's just an empty folder. It's not telling you that you have recently deleted texts. I agree that it's different from the usual user interface but, given how much the usual "no folder unless there are deleted items" confuses people, it may not be such a bad thing.

Yes, if you had a recently deleted message, it would show up there. This is very easy to test.

If you mean in the Messages app, that seems to be the way it works. Unlike most other apps, the Recently Deleted is permanent in Messages.

No I mean when you go to your messages app, click edit in the upper left corner, and then it drops down options for you…. So up until now, when I have NOT deleted any texts, the option to see my recently deleted texts doesn’t show up. It only shows up when I have deleted texts. However, it is now showing me to option to view my recently deleted texts, but when I click on it, it opens to a blank page, no deleted texts. Why would it say I had deleted texts and then I not be able to view said texts?
