Duplicate Drafts of emails

Every time you start an email in Mail, and then stop and go to another page, like the internet or WORD or something other than MAIL, a draft is created. So if you start an email, get interrupted to answer a call or look up something, somewhere else, a new Draft is created, one that is the most updated version. The previous Drafts remain as well, each a little different or the same identical draft. Type just 1 character and leave the email, and a brand new draft is created. Visit, and revisit without changing anything in a Draft, and then leave...and a new identical draft is created. According to Apply, this cannot be stopped in the Mail app so once you start and email ...make sure you finish it, or just don't start one until you can finish and send it....to avoid multiple drafts. But if you find you need to go to other pages while developing an email, when you finally send the email, its ok to go to your email Drafts and just delete all of the remaining drafts you created. It won't effect the one you finally sent:-)

Actually, this was my first post (with errors), so letting everyone know I have a Mac (not iMac) with Sonoma 14.5. I did not make changes to correct the issue because Apple told me it's not possible to correct anything.

What is the purpose of your post? Did you have a question about how you can avoid having such multiple drafts created? Or was it just to inform people that unwanted drafts of emails can be deleted, which I would think is obvious to most users.

I don't see the behavior you describe, many email drafts like that being created. I utilize a variety of Macs, the oldest on High Sierra (10.13), another on Big Sur, others on Monterey (12.7.5) through Sonoma (14.5). So do you have a question about preventing the multiple drafts you see? Or are you just informing people that you delete them and don't care. As rkaufman indicated, any troubleshooting here would require details about your Mac model and configuration. You seem to be deliberately coy about saying what your configuration is, you simply said you use a Mac that is not an iMac. Although you did post in the iMac discussion area. Not sure why. You can correct errors in your post if you do that within several minutes of posting.

iMacs have been available for over 25 years and Mac OS has been available as long. This means there are literally hundreds of possible configurations. When posting a question at a bare minimum you need to provide the model. year of the iMac and the version of Mac OS installed. You can find both pieces of information by clicking. the Apple symbol in the upper left of the display and then click About this Mac.

It may also be helpful if you tell us what recent changes you made to your computer and what troubleshooting your have attempted such as restarting the computer!
