Today while using my phone, out of the blue, I had a pop up for "No SIM available". This was the first time this occurred. I hadn't dropped or damaged the phone prior to this.
I restarted the phone and all seemed well, when 20 minutes later this issue popped up again.
It seems both restarting and turning on then off Airplane mode will temporarily fix the issue.
I went to my cell provider and they supplied me with a new SIM card. not even an hour later it is happening again.
The intermittent nature of it leads me to believe it is a software issue but I'm not sure.

Physical SIM— pull it out wipe it off, re-insert into the tray and compare your results.
If the SIM is bad, contact your carrier for a replacement.
