How can I fix Music sync issues between my MacBook and iPad?

I am trying to sync music between my Macbook and iPad. Both are up to date and I have tried restarting both. The iPad does not connect to my computer (also will not connect to my Mac studio). I have checked system information and it does not show up as a connected USB. I also tried my iPhone and it does not connect. Any ideas on how to fix this would be appreciated.
