Backing up iPad with black screen of death

Is It possible to back up my iPad that other than having a few hairline cracks and THE BLACK SCREEN OF DEATH, works fine. Customer Support said to back it up first because I may be getting a new I have no way of doing this from the IPad itself because of the black screen. I don’t have a laptop or computer to do it through ITunes (can we still even do that) and only have my iPhone which has the same AppleID and is connected to the same WiFi. Is there a possible way to back it up using my iPhone that I don’t know about? I am 64 and not too computer savvy. HELP???

Unless you are able to successfully boot the iPad - and sign-in with the iPad Passcode, you'll not be able to access or backup any locally stored data. Successful entry of the device passcode unlocks the iPad security chip within which the encryption keys that secure your data are stored.

Your iPad has an encrypted filesystem that ensures that no data can be accessed unless properly unlocked. As such, sorry, but you're out of luck...
