duplicate apps not able to delete

my moms phone has two to three of the same app icons on her phone. When I go in to delete the duplicates it deletes all the apps that are the same. Example she has three YouTube apps and when I go to delete one it deletes all three. I can't figure out how to fix this issue. When we go to download the app it redownloads it three times.
