Is there a way to connect mismatched AirPods Pro 2 for a firmware update?

I bought a secondhand AirPods Pro 2 body and left side to connect it to my right side. However, the right side of my AirPods Pro 2 is a very old version of 5B??? and the left side is the A2698 version, so I can't update the firmware because the two are disconnected. Is there a way to fix it?

Firmware update no go on AirPods 4 plus more issues. No go on firmware update for my AirPods 4. I have tried every trick found here and everywhere and still they won’t update. The other issue is I can’t pair all my devises to the AirPods 4 and then select them to be turned on as I move from one computer to another as needed. What I have to do is to forget the devise then re-pair in order to use it. It is very annoying and my old AirPods don’t do this. They were paired once to the devises and when I move from one to another they auto connect when Im in range or when I tell it to connect. No forgetting and re-pairing needed. It is terrible annoying and frankly Im not a happy camper with Apple about this. These are not cheap and I DO expect them to work flawlessly right out of the box. It is what I pay for. When they are connected they work as they should. Except for not being able to update the firmware. And that I have to forget and re-pair from devise to devise. Such an annoying problem. What’s the deal?

Airpods pro (2nd gen) same as Airpods pro 2? Are these really the same product and it's just a new software update? Seems like there's conflicting info floating around on if they are really the same and Apple just changed the name (slightly) and released a software update, or if they are actually different. It even seems like stores are using model/UPC #'s that are the same between the two versions.

Did you read this article to set up your replacement AirPods? If the pairing works, I believe the firmware will be updated automatically.
